International Probiotic Conference 2008 // Young Scientist Award

Young Scientist Award

DANISCO A/S, the partner of the conference, presented the “Young Scientist Award” for the best orally presented scientific contribution of a scientist under the age of 35.

The work itself had to be characterised by a high scientific standard, indicating the independence of the candidate in performing scientific research in probiotics and related areas. The work presented was supposed to bring forward new ideas, new concepts, applications or understanding of probiotics.

The winner of 1000 € award was elected by the scientific committee at the conference.

Young Scientist Award” - sponsored by the renown Danish probiotic producer Danisco - was presented to Dinesh Thapa, University of Hohenheim for his work on the antimutagenic property of exopolysaccharide producing lactic acid bacteria. Mr. Thapa's work further strengthens the vision of using probiotics in cancer prevention.
