Scientific programme

All scientists interested in probiotics are invited to participate in the 3rd International Probiotic Conference (IPC-2008). Participants in the 1st (IPC-2000 ) and 2nd International Probiotic Conference (IPC-2004) brought new expertise from probiotic research. The convergence of ideas from many different perspectives resulted in a highly successful conferences. Now, with the emergency of new insight into probiotics and with rapidly advancing technologies that affect our research, it is time to gather for the 3rd International Probiotic Conference.

The conference will be held for three days and scientific programme will include a plenary lectures of invited speakers, oral and poster presentation.

Key topics of the conference

1. New knowledge in probiotic research

New findings in methods for characterising probiotic microorganisms and testing their ability to colonize the gut, new observations in study of the mechanism of the effect of probiotics, biomarkers of probiotic efficacy and possibilities to improve the effect of probiotic microorganisms will be reported.

2. Probiotics in nutrition, prevention and therapy of diseases

The session will be aimed on the possibilities to use probiotics in food, functional foods, human medicine, feeds and veterinary medicine. The opportunities to replace synthetic substances in nutrition, prevention and therapy of diseases by probiotics will be discussed.

3. Technology and safety of the probiotics

The papers will be focused on topics of production of probiotic preparations, novel application forms, safety criteria and impact of probiotics on ecology.
